I’ve spent the start of 2023 thinking about my writing goals for the year, specifically for this newsletter. I’m hyperconscious that the cost of living crisis (or the “cozzie livs” as we’re supposedly calling it in the UK) means that a few bucks here or there can add up real quick, and I want to make sure that my beloved subscribers are getting their money’s worth.
Since I had so much fun rounding up my best and worst buys of 2022, I’ve decided to start writing about what I’m buying (and trying NOT to buy) on a weekly basis. I love reading about how other people spend their money — I was inspired to start documenting my spending a few years ago by my friend Katie —and I’m hoping you guys do too. If you subscribed to my original newsletter, it’ll be a similar vibe. This means that, in addition to my weekly essay, which will now be published on Fridays, paid subscribers will ALSO receive a post dedicated to shopping and finances every Monday. Fun, right?
At least one of my essays and one shopping list every month will be unpaywalled — I’m going to have to figure out what works best. I wish I could produce it all for free, and I truly wish I didn’t have to make money to live, but, you know, that’s where we’re at right now. And a reminder: If you’re interested in getting full access but don’t have the means, please reach out to me and I’ll be happy to gift you a paid subscription, no questions asked. Just reply to this email and I’ll get you sorted.
If you’re a free subscriber who does have a few bucks to spare, however, there’s never been a better time to upgrade your subscription. And I’d be immensely grateful for the support.
Sales pitch over now!!
Let’s get to the shopping lists.
